Tiffanie Dixon's Bio:

You might not know her by name, but chances are you've seen her work (especially if you caught Oprah Winfrey's interview with Whitney Houston). Tiffanie Dixon is a celebrity hairstylist who's worked on some of the biggest names in show business. Her clients include:

  • Whitney Houston
  • Mary J. Blige
  • Ciara
  • Regina King
  • Lynn Whitfield
  • Kelis
  • Eve
  • Stacey Dash
  • Tasha Smith
  • And more!

In addition, her stylish work has appeared in Vogue, InStyle, People, Us Weekly and Sophisticate's Black Hair, just to name a few.

Tiffanie Dixon is a 10-year veteran of the beauty industry whose mission, "To enhance beauty from the inside out," gives each client the balance they need and the formula to continue a daily regimen that will provide longevity to each client's newfound transformation.

For the past three+ years, Tiffanie has worked closely with Whitney Houston and helped prepare her for what has now become one of the entertainment industry's most anticipated returns.

She also helps to mentor young professionals as a beauty educator teaching across the country. In addition, she is an advocate for women's welfare, working with nonprofit organizations, specifically the Angela Douglas Center for Abused Women.

Tiffanie has very graciously agreed to take time out of her busy day to answer some questions about celebrities, hair and what trends you should look out for this fall.

Thank you, Tiffanie, for agreeing to be interviewed for the Black Hair channel at About.com! You've worked with some very famous women. Can you tell our readers what's the most rewarding part of your celebrity hairstylist career?

The most rewarding part about being a celebrity stylist is bringing out the inner beauty, transforming attitudes and looks. It is a blessing being able to travel the world and live out my passion.

Plus, you get to stay on top of all the latest trends! Can you name some upcoming trends in the black hair market for fall 2009, as far as what's hot in color, what textures women should be looking out for, etc.?

Fall is upon us and cool colors like various auburns, ambers and chocolate browns are always nice for the winter and full body curls are a great textured look. Styles with flair and color are show-stoppers and a great look for the holidays. IT&LY Hairfashion makes fantastic hair color to bring these trends straight from the salon to home.

Okay, readers, those are the trends to look out for. Tiffanie, sometimes women look through hair magazines and want to achieve a certain look that a celebrity has, but finds that it's hard to do without extensions. Can you explain why extensions are such a huge part of celebrity looks?

Extensions are to accentuate the style, giving it fullness or extra length necessary to create the desired look.

So celebrities use extensions for the same reasons the readers out there might. As far as taking care of hair, what are some simple things anyone can do to pamper her hair on a daily basis?

I would recommend brushing the hair daily and using a silk scarf at bedtime to keep the hair smooth and silky!

Okay, the pro has spoken! What are three of your favorite styling products right now and why?

My favorite products to use would be:

  • Paul Mitchell Finishing Spray - Gives a superb hold without buildup and holds each strand in place.
  • Bed Head Wax Stick - Is used for the finished style on stray hairs.
  • FHI Hot Sauce - Smooths the cuticle layer of the hair and gives a great shine.

All good salon brands that deliver. Now, can you tell us which of your celebrity clients takes great care of her hair?

I would have to say Bobbi Kristena. She conditions her hair often and keeps the ends trimmed and her hair is always styled with perfection.

That's great to know since she's so young; it sounds like she's on the road to a lifetime of good hair care. If a woman is bored with her hair, what's your advice for a quick and easy style switch to get her out of that rut?

I would suggest a quick an easy way to come out of a hair rut would to add extensions, create a new attitude as well as boost self esteem.

As Whitney Houston's hairstylist, what looks are you going for with the recent release of her newest CD? How can a woman copy Whitney's look at home?

The plan is to constantly innovate new looks that keep her edgy, but classy, natural and stylish! The best way to achieve the WHITNEY look is to curl the hair with a light holding spray like White Sands Infinity Finishing Spray and finger comb the hair to the desired look and allow the hair to fall, creating that full body natural looking style!

Thank you again, Tiffanie!
