Quick Tip: Line Those Wool Hats
Nov 16th 2011, 05:07

I have a quick tip now that many of us will soon be pulling out wooly hats and scarves to keep warm.

While useful and pretty much necessary if you live in a snowy climate, wool hats can be murder on black hair. You can still cover your head, but make sure any hats you wear are lined with silk or satin.

Because it's not always easy to find such hats, you may have to learn how to line your hats yourself. Don't worry if you're no seamstress; this lining will be inside your hat and no one has to see it, so it doesn't have to be perfect.

I found a tutorial on a headband-type liner (it shows fleece in the tutorial, but don't use fleece!), but the same concept works for covering the entire interior of your hat. Great seaming isn't what's important here. It's much more important that you put a silky layer of something between your hair and your hat.
